Leather Care
Furniture covered with Tasman Leathers is easy to care for.
Leather has natural strength and resistance to wear and soiling, more so than fabric upholstery. However care and attention with a regular cleaning programme will assist in maintaining this durability.
Position furniture away from heat and sunlight. Prolonged exposure to heat and sunlight (including sunlight through windows and skylights) may fade or dry leather.
Accumulation of body oils, skin products, perspiration, creams, hair products and general grime in furniture's key contact areas (such as head rests, arms and seating) are the most detrimental to the leather's outer protective topcoats, but they can be removed by regular wiping with a damp cloth.
Frequent, careful vacuuming with a suitable brush attachment is recommended for the removal of day-to-day dust, crumbs and other minor debris. General spills are best spot-cleaned at the earliest convenience.
A light, overall cleaning with an approved leather care product is recommended every 3-4 months, preferably followed up with a protector or repellent to assist with the prevention of soiling.
When cleaning, avoid using general household cleaning products as these may cause permanent damage to the leather. Use specialist leather care cleaning products - we recommend the Pellé Leather Care System.
Caring for your leather furniture will repay you with years of good use.
